21 Tibetans arrested entering Nepal
(Phayul) Nepalese police from Dolakha District arrested 21 Tibetans, including a 16-year-old girl for illegally entering Nepal without any valid travel documents. Police inspector Govinda Jha said that they entered Nepal via the Lamabagar Lapchi area and were trying to travel to Kathmandu when they were arrested. As most of those who cross the border illegally, they had planned to travel to India and seek an audience with the Dalai Lama. Following their arrest, some were detained at the Anamnagar Police Post and some at another police station in the capital. They were then sent to central jail at Sundhara, Kathmandu. It is expected that they will be fined according to normal immigration policy and released soon. The Nepalese Government has not deported any Tibetans back to the TAR for a number of years.
