First charter flight into Lhasa
(Xinhua) A charter flight with 109 tourists aboard arrived at Gongkar Airport, Lhasa from Singapore, becoming the first non-stop overseas charter flight for tourists to the TAR. According to the Tibet Tourism Bureau, a Singaporean travel agency chartered an Air China aircraft for the tour. Bazho, a director of the bureau, said the non-stop flight has established Lhasa as a direct destination for overseas tourists. Overseas tourists usually have to stop at Chengdu, in Sichuan province, or Beijing before they fly on to Lhasa.
