EU to increase investment in PRC’s west
Official Chinese news agency Xinhua reports that the Asian Investment Strategy programme initiated by the European Union (EU) will focus on the PRC’s western regions. According to Xinhua, Vincent Piket, an EU official in charge of the Asian aid programmes revealed at a press briefing following a two-day Asian Investment Forum held in Chengdu, Sichuan province, that the Union will provide between 75 percent and 95 percent of the capital for projects in Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Shaanxi, Gansu and Qinghai provinces and the Xinjiang Uygur and Tibet autonomous regions.
